I’m honored to be highlighted by the Lake County News-Sun for my work in the Senate to strengthen protections for children and support Illinois families.
Protecting children requires action, accountability, and a commitment to improving the systems families rely on. This session, I was proud to work in a bipartisan way to pass legislation that strengthens transparency within the DCFS investigative process and ensures families have clearer information about allegations, timelines, appeal rights, and access to records through House Bill 4242.
I was also proud to support House Bill 2190, which strengthens safety standards in childcare settings by ensuring more caregivers are trained in CPR, first aid, and the Heimlich maneuver so they are prepared when emergencies happen.
As a mother and as a state senator, keeping children safe and giving families confidence in our systems will always remain a priority. I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue working across the aisle to deliver meaningful results for Illinois families.
