Stronger, Safer Roads Coming to Families in the 26th District

Exciting news for the 26th District! Our communities are set to receive more than $407 million for 69 highway projects over the next six years. These investments in state and local roads will make travel safer, reduce traffic, and strengthen connections across our District.

I’m proud to see our tax dollars coming back home to improve the infrastructure we rely on every day. Read more to discover specific project details and locations here.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to promoting screening, education, and prevention around the second most common cancer among American women.

On average, every two minutes, a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer. The National Breast Cancer Foundation reports that one in eight women will face a breast cancer diagnosis at some point in their lifetime. The Foundation also reports that in 2025, an estimated 316,950 women and 2,800 men in the U.S. are expected to be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer.

However, when detected early, breast cancer carries a five-year survival rate of 99 percent. Today, more than four million breast cancer survivors are living in this country. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is not only about acknowledging the impact of the disease but also about empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health. For more information on breast cancer, visit the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s website.

Darby in the District – Za Za’s Tavola Italiana in Lake Barrington!

Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 7th, from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. I will be at Za Za’s Tavola Italiana in Lake Barrington! Stop by to say hello, grab a drink and appetizer, and share what’s on your mind! I love connecting with constituents from across the 26th District and learning about your top concerns and priorities. These conversations help guide my work in Springfield. Hope to see you there!

Mundelein High School “Principal for the Day”

I felt so welcomed at MHS as ‘Principal for the Day.’ One of my duties, filling in as principal, was to say the pledge and read the morning school announcements. You can view that on Mundelein High School’s Facebook page here.

It was such a great experience spending time with Principal Taylor, the leadership team, teachers, and students. I truly enjoyed hearing about the school’s culture and the many ways they’re preparing students for the future.  Visits like this help guide my work as State Senator to support students, teachers, and families across our district.
