Barrington Area Legislative Breakfast
It was an honor to join Barrington District 220, along with local, business, and state leaders, at the Barrington Area Legislative Breakfast to share updates on what’s happening in Springfield and hear directly from those working to strengthen our communities.
From addressing the state’s financial challenges to finding better ways to support families, schools, and small businesses, these conversations help guide the work I do every day on your behalf.

You Asked, We Acted
At recent events, many of you shared how much you enjoyed our ICASH events — and we listened! We added more ICASH events to the calendar to help even more residents reconnect with their unclaimed property. At one of our final ICASH events, a visitor recently discovered over $46,000 in unclaimed property, plus interest, waiting for him through ICASH! Stories like these are what make our community events so rewarding.
My team and I are always here to help, whether it’s tracking down unclaimed funds, navigating state services, or listening to what matters most to you. When you reach out, we’re here to respond.Looking forward to more ICASH events in the future!

Darby in the District at Moretti’sThank you to everyone who came out to Darby in the District at Moretti’s in Barrington! I loved hearing your thoughts, sharing good conversation, and connecting with so many familiar faces.
Bill to Expand Property Tax Relief for Senior Citizens
Illinois continues to face one of the highest overall tax burdens in the nation, with homeowners paying the highest effective property tax rate of any state. The heavy tax load has driven many residents, particularly seniors, to leave Illinois.
During the recent veto session, I supported easing that burden by voting for Senate Bill 642, a measure designed to help seniors stay in their homes.
The bipartisan proposal raises the maximum income limit for the Low-Income Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption over the next several years. Beginning in tax year 2026, the income limit would increase to $75,000, then to $77,000 in 2027, and to $79,000 in 2028 and beyond.
The aim of the legislation is to expand eligibility for the property tax freeze program to allow in-need seniors to qualify for relief and stay in their homes. The measure passed the Senate unanimously and now heads to the Governor for further consideration.

Senior Fraud Prevention
It was such a great turnout at the Senior Fraud Prevention event! I love hosting events like this and getting the chance to meet so many of you, and it makes me so happy to see you taking advantage of these opportunities to learn and stay informed.
I’m excited to continue hosting events throughout the district so I can connect with you and help make life a little easier.
A big thank you to the Illinois Department on Aging and the Illinois Attorney General’s office for partnering with us and making this event a success!
