Springfield, IL – State Senator Darby Hills (R-Barrington Hills) released the following statement regarding Senate Bill 3572, which would allow women who obtain an abortion to face homicide charges and end IVF treatments in Illinois.
“I cannot support extreme legislation that charges women with first-degree murder for being raped. We can uphold our values without punishing victims,” said Senator Darby Hills. “This bill would criminalize mothers, jeopardize couples pursuing fertility treatments, and put survivors of rape at risk of prosecution while their attackers face lesser consequences. As lawmakers, we should focus on policies that empower, respect, and protect women and their families.”
