SPRINGFIELD, IL — State Senator Darby Hills (R-Barrington Hills) is applauding the signing of legislation to strengthen emergency preparedness requirements in childcare settings across Illinois.
As a co-sponsor of House Bill 2190, Hills helped advance legislation requiring licensed childcare facilities and group homes to ensure at least two non-administrative staff members are certified in CPR, first aid, and the Heimlich maneuver within 90 days of employment.
“As a mother, nothing is more important to me than knowing our children are safe when they are away from home. As a former prosecutor, I understand how quickly an emergency can change a family’s life,” Hills said. “Every childcare provider should be prepared to respond when seconds matter. This law helps ensure more trained caregivers are available to protect the children entrusted to their care.”
The legislation was signed into law by Governor JB Pritzker.
